Community Partners: St. James Settlement Upcycling Center and PolyU Design School

Since its launch in 2020, the “EXP” Journey has been a flagship programme centered around three strategic themes: Explore, Experience, and Experiment.

In 2024, the programme focuses on service users from St. James’ Settlement’s Kin Chi Dementia Care Support Service Centre, as well as the Pilot Scheme on New Service Protocols for Children and Adolescents with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Comorbidity (ADHD). Through visits, students from PolyU Design School gain insights into the needs of individuals with dementia and ADHD. They are tasked with creating practical and meaningful productor solutions to address these needs, applying the principles of design thinking.

Project Outcomes:

• 72 students participated and developed 14 prototypes
• Two design teams were awarded the “CTFS ‘EXP’ Journey Award”, each receiving HKD 200,000 in seeding fund
• The winning teams will utilize the funds to manufacture their products, which will be donated to organizations in need
• The products are co-produced with the support of individuals in rehabilitation

Community Partner: Christian Action

Since 2022, CTFS and Christian Action have collaborated to provide regular Chinese enrichment classes and activities for underprivileged Ethnic Minority (“EM”) children in Hong Kong. This initiative aims to ignite their passion for learning and improve their proficiency in Chinese and Cantonese for everyday use.

We believe that strengthening Chinese language abilities must start from a young age. By focusing on early language development, we aim to enhance their proficiency, which is crucial for better integration into school life and the broader community. Proficient Chinese language skills facilitate the integration of EM children into school life, enhance their comprehension of teaching materials, and foster greater community engagement for their families.

CTFS strives to nurture a sustainable and inclusive community by closely collaborating with our business units and building deeper ties with local communities. Leveraging our resources and network, the Charity Foundation Committee (“The Foundation”) leads our community impact investment which focus on three key areas: “Empower for Change”, “Build for Support”, and “Drive for the Future”. We aim to partner with charity partners to drive positive changes, fostering a sustainable and inclusive community for all.

In FY2024, we introduced a Charitable Giving Policy that outlines the guidelines for charitable contributions made by the Group and all business units.
